Our Blackbuck hunts take place across several of our premier properties in Texas. As one of the most popular exotic game hunts, Blackbuck are a favorite among guides and hunters alike. These agile, herd-dwelling antelope are constantly on the move, making them a challenging and rewarding animal to stalk. Known for their striking black and white coloration, Blackbuck are considered one of the most beautiful antelope species in the world, offering a thrilling hunt and a truly impressive trophy.
Originally imported from India in 1932, Blackbuck have thrived in Texas and are now one of the most common and popular exotic species. Adult males are relatively small, weighing around 75 to 100 pounds, but are known for their aggressive and territorial behavior, especially during breeding season. Their alertness and constant movement make them a challenging and exciting animal to hunt.
Blackbuck can breed year-round, with a gestation period of 167 days and the potential to produce two offspring per year. A common misconception is that males are always black. In reality, their coat color changes with the seasons, turning dark in winter and light brown in summer.
At All Seasons Guide Service, you'll have the chance to hunt some of the largest Blackbuck in Texas. Many of our trophies have 4 to 5 horn curls, with straight-line measurements averaging 20 to 23 inches and over 30 inches around the curl.
Our typical hunting method is to Spot & Stalk these animals. Adjusting and modifying each stalk is necessary as they are unpredictable and always on the move. Being a plains animal, a Blackbucks greatest defense is their eyesight. Approaching a herd with 20-30 sets of eyes as well as strong senses of smell and hearing takes time, patience, and perseverance. In the afternoons, water becomes a key element of our hunts. We have many water holes scouted and readied with ground blinds for different wind directions, making it a great option for those who prefer not to Spot & Stalk. With All Seasons Guide Service, you can rest assured you will have multiple opportunities to take a shot during the hunt.
Most shots will be taken from shooting sticks, either from a standing or kneeling position. We strongly recommend practicing with adjustable shooting sticks before your hunt, especially if you have never used them before. We provide and highly recommend the Viper-Flex Elite Aluminum Series shooting sticks. They help improve accuracy, support ethical shot placement, and are by far the best we have ever used.
